Charging Your Electric Vehicle: What to Do and Beyond

I’ve had an electric vehicle (EV) since 2016, a time when charging spots were far and few between. Even in 2022, the availability of charging stations is still limited, much to the frustration of many EV owners. However, I’m built for this. Ever since my childhood, when portable tech was prohibitively expensive, I’ve always opted for transportable items. This mentality extends to my EV, where I’ve installed a room inside equipped with motion sensors, making it a perfect hideout for when I need a quiet moment.

My Personal Setup

Like many EV owners, I’m always prepared for a power outage. My prototype is purpose-built for just such a scenario, with a secret chamber inside, built by my family a decade ago. No one has entered since then, creating a self-contained space that’s ready for any eventuality. I’ve assembled a backpack that’s as much a part of me as it is for other purposes. It holds a Kindle Paperwhite with a warm light slider, a Nintendo OLED Switch with a full 1TB microSD card full of my favorite games, a Nintendo 3DS with a 12-item micro game storage box, and an iPad Pro with my prized television shows and movies.

Flexibility in Work and Life

Work for me is a perfect blend of productivity and leisure. My schedule allows me to work three to four days a week, midday to afternoon. This method ensures that my productivity remains high while allowing my team more free time. I don’t wear a tie and prefer to use a backpack, an item I’ve always carried to school. It ensures I carry all my essentials, no matter the situation.

Entertainment During Charging

When my EV is charging, I have a vast selection of entertainment available to me. This includes:

Kindle Paperwhite: With a warm light slider, I can enjoy reading in any lighting conditions. The latest model is a game-changer for nighttime reading. Nintendo OLED Switch: Overflowing with 1TB of games, from my childhood Nintendo DS to the latest Nintendo Switch games, it’s a treasure trove for my gaming needs. Nintendo 3DS: With a micro game storage box, I have a wide selection of games, from old favorites to new releases. iPad Pro (M1 Edition max storage): Although the screen is a bit large for my backpack, I store precious family movies, TV shows, and my favorite television series on it.

I’ve considered adding more protective pen drives to carry more essential files. Whether it’s more books, music, or just entertainment, having everything in one place is a lifesaver during long drives.

Conclusion

Charging your electric vehicle is no longer just an inconvenience. It’s an opportunity to enjoy some of your favorite entertainment. Whether it’s reading a book, playing a video game, or watching a movie, my setup is designed to make the waiting time fly by. As an experienced EV owner, I know the importance of being prepared and ensuring that downtime is a productive and enjoyable time.
