What Makes You Bold and Courageous and Where Did You Get These From?
Understanding the core qualities of courage and boldness, and tracing their roots, can be a profound journey. Here, I share my personal insights on these attributes and how they have evolved over time.
What Is Being Bold to Others?
When others describe me as bold in real life, they likely mean that I tackle situations with a proactive, inquisitive, and assertive approach. This isn’t always about physical bravery; it's more about mental and emotional resilience. I've learned to temper my aggression with a touch of passivity, a practice that helps in maintaining balance and resilience.
A Life of Boldness and Courage
My life has been a series of challenges and experiences that have equipped me with tools for resilience and courage. From a young age, I faced situations head-on and learned to channel my energy into productive and assertive actions. I have never hidden behind the idea of needing support or going behind anyone. This mindset has been with me since my teenage years.
My journey as a professional began at the young age of 14, working for the past 30 years. I have always believed that life experiences are the best teachers. Whether it's learning from God or simply from personal trials and tribulations, the key is to learn and relearn from these experiences, hoping to master the lessons of life and achieve our goals on Earth.
Courage Beyond Physical Valor
Imbued with courage isn't always about courage in the face of physical danger. It can also be found in admitting our own weaknesses and lessons learned, which is a different kind of courage. I have faced and processed my own tragedies openly and honestly, and this has contributed to my overall character and courage.
One of the earliest instances of my inner courage began when I was three years old, and my brother, four years old, was frightened by the dark. In a moment, I faced the darkness head-on and resolved that I would no longer be afraid. This decision had a lasting impact, and since then, nothing has scared me.
A Moment of Crisis and Bravery
Two decades ago, during a winter in the USA, I found myself in a unique situation. My husband and I were planning a weekend trip when I suddenly fell ill with flu-like symptoms. On a dark, stormy December day, I was lying in bed, suffering, when I heard a commotion outside our apartment door. I jumped out of bed, ran down the stairs, yelling and using every bad word I knew. The person on the other side of the door was startled and fell down the remaining stairs.
My initial suspicion was that the person had seen us driving away and wrongly assumed that he could easily get in. I turned on all the lights in the living room, then returned to my bed, feeling a sense of resolution and relief. This experience is a testament to my ability to stay calm and assertive in moments of crisis and demonstrate a form of bravery that is not always seen in others.
